AYU is the short version, as we call it, of Ayu Bowan, which means 'long life' in Sri Lankan. AYU is a channel that allows us, the three brothers – Alex, Mario, and Anthony – to convey our immense passion for food and travel. The travel experiences that filled our minds with beautiful memories are reflected in our offerings of dishes from around the world.

With open and curious minds, we are always exploring and discovering new flavors and dishes from both close and distant lands, meeting interesting chefs in restaurants or home cooks in food stalls and markets. Our encounters expose us to new ways to cook and new ingredients to use. Returning home after each trip, we are always super enthusiastic about introducing a new dish to AYU's menu.

AYU, which we refer to as a travelers' kitchen, is situated in Gzira and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday.
Our passion for food has been recognized by the Michelin Guide, and consequently, AYU was awarded the Bib Gourmand label in 2024 and again in 2025.
